I should like to congratulate you and thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the scholarship and hard work that has gone into this wonderful tribute to Dennis Brain. It is absolutely fascinating for someone like me who was born after he died but who nevertheless feels a link with him. My horn tutor at school, Colin Hinchliffe, played 4th Horn at Covent Garden for many years and I learnt (years later) that he would sometimes deputise for Dennis. I'm glad that there is such an interest in horn playing in Japan: you are so fortunate that the great Alessio Allegrini, someone I regard as the 'Heifetz of the horn', has such strong affiliations with your country.

My mother Eva Mary is Dennis' cousin. Her mother Recbecca married William Goch and emigrated to South Africa. My mother is still alive. We, my sister and I, are trying to put together a family tree and would love contact and information regarding our grandmothers early years and her family. Is there anyone who can give us an email address or information?

I wonder if anybody can put me in touch with Yvonne Brain, wife of Dennis Brain. She was my piano teacher when I was at primary school. She was my favourite teacher. Now I am teaching piano at a primary school and I would like to contact her to thank her for inspiring me and for the book of Beethoven sonatas she gave me which I still have.
Thank you.

My dear Yukihiro, it has been a chaotic time for me these last 3 years. But now, I am at last moving forward once again.
I was in dusting off the Wilhelm Lanzky-Otto site and decided to pop into yours. What fantastic work you have done and continue to do!
I have a new URL for the WLO site.
If you email me, I will be happy to send it to you!
You can still for the moment get there from the old URL, but since that is a free webhosting site, I don't know how long it will last.

Admin reply: Dear Sven-Erik Sieurin

Thank you for your notice. I have already changed the URL of Wilhelm Lanzky-Otto site on my link page.

With Best Wishes,
Yukihiro

Your information has been very useful researching many 78 RPM recordings in my collection. One small error I did notice -- the Mozart Symphony #41 you reference recorded by Coates and the LSO in 1927 is American Victor Album M 30 (not M 60 as in your listing). Many thanks for your work!

Great Site, I am writing part of my Third Year University Music Dissertation on Dennis Brain. Being Principal horn of the Cardiff University Symphony Orchestra, I have always been interested in recordings made by Dennis Brain.
I have thoroughly enjoyed studying about a small portion of his life.

Admin reply: Thank you for your post!

Finally a very good site of the Master of the Artist. Thanks a lot for the job you have done! It is definitely very useful for me, not only for all the various informations that you put in it, but mainly because i was always curious to listening him playing in his orchestra. With your perfect list of recordings it became now possible to hear both of this wonderful Philarmonia Principal Horns. Dennis Brain and Alan Civil.

Best regards and thank you.

This is the most comprehensive website devoted to the memory of virtuoso horn player, Dennis Brain. Not the only website but in my opinion the best one. I am currently busy trying to complete a large biography of Dennis Brain and discovering that there is a great deal more to publishing than having a completed manuscript, however well-researched and written.

Admin reply: Thank you for your kind words. I look forward to your new Dennis Brain biography being published in the near future.
